“Never, never, NEVER again”. This is what everyone says at the end of Grand Designs right? Well it turns out that it's said with perfectly good reason. I mentioned before that this year was to see us embark on the little project of building our home with yours truly as project manager. Well, my visions of gliding around shops picking out tiles and stroking fabrics were quickly replaced with a far less glamorous reality of mud, huge machines, builders merchants, U-values (don’t ask), the delicate intricacies of the modern plumbing system, and builders demanding endless cups of tea.
One enormous advantage of working on a building site is that you can eat nothing but biscuits and no-one seems to notice. I'm back to my usual diet of toast now and here’s a little peak at the finished article…
Well, we managed to build it in 6 months and we're all settled in. It's not quite finished (hence the tightly cropped image so you don't see all the rubble and the makeshift washing line in the garden) but she's beautiful! She'll be kind to the planet, she's warm and cosy inside and becoming more like home every day. So, between building and weddings it's been a busy 6 months. Something had to give and that was blogging and social media - soz.
To make up for the lack of flowery pictures of late, here are some stunning images from a wedding on a sunny Spring day earlier this year. Emily and Craig were the sweeeeetest couple - gorgeous, fun and a little bit naughty. Emily wanted the flowers to feel fresh and spring-like. They have fantastic taste and chose the exquisite Babington House as their venue. They also chose the incredible Dylan Nolte as their photographer.
